How Great Content Creators Never Struggle With What to Post Next

Great content creators rely on their “story brain” to guide their content.

What do I mean by “story brain”? Let me explain.

What Is a “Story Brain”?

The creators we love to follow don’t stop at one post—they tell stories that keep people coming back for more. They think of their posts as chapters in a book. Each chapter builds on the one before it and leaves people wondering: What happens next?

To harness your story brain, start asking yourself questions like:

  • What’s the next chapter of this story?

  • What part of the plot am I revealing next?

By thinking this way, you’ll naturally create a narrative that keeps your audience hooked.

How to Use Your Story Brain: Real-Life Examples

Here are some practical ways to use your ‘story brain’ to guide your content, inspired by real students in my program, Personal Brand Accelerator.

Sarah: Transparent Financial Wins

Sarah shared a beautifully transparent post about making $450K+ in revenue in 2024. Her audience is already hooked. For her, the next step would be to build on that story by answering questions like:

  • Share her goals for 2025, and explain how her thought-process has changed because of what she learned in 2024.

  • Highlight any challenges she’s facing, and how she plans to tackle them.

  • Share any financial wins, big or small!

By answering these questions in future posts, Sarah can create a natural progression in her narrative and keep her audience invested in what happens next.

Kristin: Shutting Down Her Business

Kristin created a powerful reel about shutting down her business. To continue the story, she could…

  • Share what she’s focusing on next — A new venture or a period of rest?

  • Reflect on what this big decision has taught her and how it’s shaping her next business move.

  • Open up about how this transition feels, what are the emotional implications of shutting down a business?

Sharing these details not only adds more depth to Kristin’s story, but it will also make her audience feel more connected to her when she leans into that vulnerable side of herself.

Alex: Getting Out of a Funk

Alex posted a Reel titled "5 Tips for Getting Out of a Funk," which performed really well. In the video, Alex mentioned being in a funk herself but emerging more authentic afterward. To expand on this, Alex could share:

  • Share how she’s stayed true to herself and what she’s learned since getting out of the funk.

  • Talk about specific habits or routines that have helped her stay grounded.

  • Show her transformation visually — whether it’s a small win or a big change in mindset.

By continuing the story, Alex deepens the plot and keeps people wanting more.

Lean Into the Arcs of Your Life

The secret to thinking like a Creator using your ‘story brain’ is leaning into the natural arcs of your life and sharing them openly.

Mind you, these stories don’t have to be big or dramatic.

I recently shared on my IG Stories that I hadn’t sent out my holiday cards yet. I asked my audience if I should still send them, and dozens of people replied, “YES!”

If I’m thinking with my ‘story brain,’ this is a perfect opportunity for a follow-up video. I could show the process of making and mailing out my holiday cards. Simple, relatable, and engaging.

Close the Loop

Essentially, keep the story going. Close the loop. People love seeing how things play out in real time. By using your ‘story brain,’ you’ll create more intentional content and keeps your audience coming back for more.
