When is it 'too soon' to share something on social media?

I have to be honest with you… I’ve been going through a tough time. It seems like the only solace I’ve found is in my writing–which I decided to share publicly on Instagram.

I made the conscious decision to let my audience walk alongside me as I pieced together the puzzle in my heart. This was a bold move for me.

I wondered if it was too soon to share an experience I was still going through, as it can be difficult to see your blind spots when you’re still trekking through the mud.

After all, you don’t have the benefit of hindsight.

Even so, these stories were bubbling inside of me and I became a conduit for their release.

I wrote about my experiences from an objective point of view as I didn’t want to paint myself in a more favorable light to make my audience agree with me. Rather, I wanted to tell my story like a witness, so the reader could make their own judgments and discover their own revelations based on the pieces presented.

Why is it so hard to do this?

As creators, we have to sacrifice our ego to produce authentic pieces of work. The walls must come down. The armor must be removed. We must crack ourselves open if we are committed to revealing the truth about our experiences.

I worried about many things before posting this series:

Will people understand me?
Will people criticize me for making this decision?
Will people pity me or think something’s wrong with me?

Ultimately, the answer is yes. They might.

Part of stretching myself as a creator is learning to withstand that pressure, accepting feedback and criticism, and learning to tolerate the differences in opinion without losing my balance and abandoning my convictions.

As thought leaders, it’s a muscle we have to strengthen. The ability to share authentically, no matter how uncomfortable it feels. This is the content worth sharing. These are the stories that affect real heart-centered change.

If you’re ready to share more honestly, more authentically, more purposefully… I challenge you to apply for the Thought Leadership Circle. It’s an 8-week course that will teach you how to improve your writing, create beautiful videos, and stay consistent with your content.

We start Wednesday, May 4. (And there’s only a few spots left!) <<Start Here>>

P.S. I’ve been getting a lot of DMs about Ritual Zero Proof, non-alcoholic spirits for cocktails :) To answer your questions, my favorite flavor is the Gin alternative–and YES–I do have a code that gets you 20% off. It’s ‘AnnaV’! Enjoy. Xx
